Editor’s Note: In celebration of our first Readers’ Choice poll, we’re introducing you to some of the many businesses you named the best for families in Frederick County.

Frederick’s Child readers named 24/7 Dance Studio their top choice for dance programs, summer programs and extracurricular activities in our Readers’ Choice poll.

This season, 24/7 Dance Studio is celebrating 20 years of business in a creative and generous way. “We are having drives every month to give back to the community that has given us so much,” Susan DesRoches, the studio’s business manager, says. “Last month, it was toiletries, this month, it is coats and costumes, and next month, it will be food.” In addition, on the 20th of each month, the studio picks 20 families to receive something special.

24/7 Dance Studio offers an array of classes, including ballet, hip-hop, tap, contemporary musical theater, acting and gymnastics. The newest addition, “Tumble With Me,” is a special parent and child class for kids ages 19 months to 2 1/2 years.

But 24/7 Dance Studio has never been only about teaching technical skills.

“We’re helping future leaders and trying to instill confidence and teamwork and love,” DesRoches says. “Everything we do has our families in mind for not just physical safety, but the mental safety and well-being, especially after a year like we’ve just had.”

The studio instills positive reinforcement in many ways, from the “kindness board,” where students can post examples of kind things that they have done, to the postcards that teachers send students. “It’s just all about being there for the kids,” DesRoches says.

This approach has kept families coming back for 20 years. “I’m so lucky that I get to be a part of this and watch all of these children grow up and become young adults,” DesRoches says.
