5 Pet-Friendly Outings in Frederick County

Pets are an important part of the family, but it can be a challenge to find pet-friendly spaces—meaning pets are often left behind when we go out. Luckily for our four-legged family members, Frederick is the place to be for dog-friendly dining, parks and shopping.

Here are five ways you can get the whole family involved and celebrate the companionship of our furry friends this spring and summer.

Dog-Friendly Dining
Dublin Roasters, 1880 N. Market St., Frederick | Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Sit down and grab a bite with your dog at one of Frederick’s many pet-friendly restaurants in their outdoor dining areas. If a full meal isn’t your cup of tea, have a cup of coffee at Dublin Roasters. This hotspot has cozy and dog-friendly outdoor seating, tasty options and a charming atmosphere, according to reviews. Its menu is also affordable, with most items under $10.

A Walk in the Park
Ballenger Creek Dog Park, 5420 Ballenger Creek Pike, Frederick | 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Take a stroll and enjoy the weather as it warms up for the season at one of the area’s largest dog parks! Ballenger Creek Dog Park has 4 acres, including two separate dog areas, as well as walkways, trails, benches and water. Or, if a smaller dog park is better for your family’s speed, try the Othello Regional or Urbana parks. All dogs at these parks are required to have their current identification and vaccination tags visible.

Fetch Thrift Shop
Fetch Thrift Shop, 1818 Rosemont Ave., Frederick | Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m., Sunday, noon – 5 p.m.

If you’re in the market for a way to help local animals, Fetch Thrift Shop has what you’re looking for. This pet-friendly thrift experience donates its net proceeds to a variety of animal causes all year long and also accepts donations. Here, you and your family can find something new-to-you and meet Fetch’s shop pets! Ladybug is the shop’s chief guard dog, Tillie is a senior dog and Amos is an impressive 30-year-old African Grey parrot.

Hop to the Shop
Downtown Frederick | Business Hours Vary

Frederick is full of animal lovers, and the shops downtown have caught on. Next time you’re downtown with the kids, challenge everyone to keep an eye out for shops with a pet-related sticker on the window or door. This indicates the shop is dog-friendly! Paw Spa Day
Dogtopia, 4959 Westview Drive, Suite C, Frederick | Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sunday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Every pup needs a little pampering. Shampoo, conditioner, a massage, brushing and cleaning. Your furry companion deserves the works. You can do this at home as a family project for a more personal touch or leave it to the professionals. Dogtopia in Frederick offers a full spa experience for your pup, complete with nails, ears and teeth.
