From a national day celebrating comics to a celebration of Asian culture, there’s plenty to do in Frederick this weekend. These events are fun for the whole family!

Free Comic Book Day

May 2, 3-4:30 p.m.

Carroll County Public Library – Mount Airy Branch | 705 Ridge Ave., Mount Airy, MD 21771

Does your kid love superhero movies? This event is the perfect way to introduce them to the medium of comics. The Mount Airy Branch of the Carroll County Public Library will be giving away free comic books. Participants can also make their own comic-themed bookmarks and enjoy episodes of “The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes!”

Asia on the Creek

Carroll Creek Outdoor Amphitheater | Carroll Creek Market St., Frederick, MD 21701

The Asian American Center of Frederick is celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with a community festival that spotlights a diverse range of Asian cultures and their traditions. Chow down on delicious food, enjoy live performances and check out local art at this event!

Astronomy Star Party with TriState Astronomers

May 3, 7:30-10 p.m.

Fox Haven Farm & Learning Center | 3630 Poffenberger Road, Jefferson, MD 21755

See the stars like never before from Fox Haven Farm’s beautiful campus. Sunset will occur around 8 p.m., offering gorgeous views of far-away galaxies and planets like Jupiter. Bring your own blankets, chairs and snacks, and stay as long as you’d like!
