Must-Sees: If you’re down to take a road trip, Calvert County includes many trails that will take visitors around the area to see the best the county has to offer. The Calvert County Wine & Ale Trail encompasses eight different wineries and breweries to sample drinks from, while the Calvert County Arts & Antiques Trail will introduce you to local artists throughout the area. You might just find the perfect gift or furniture to add to your house! There’s also the Barn Quilt Trail, which consists of 27 squares across the area and is meant to encourage people to explore the county.
Much of Calvert County’s culture and history revolves around its seaside location, and there are many museums and lighthouses that visitors can explore. These include Cove Point Lighthouse, Drum Point Lighthouse and the Calvert Marine Museum.
Local Nature: Since it’s right along the Chesapeake Bay, Calvert County is well-known for its beaches. Many of its parks, including Calvert Cliffs State Park and Flag Ponds Nature Park, are located right along the shore and offer picturesque seaside views and areas for swimming, fishing and grilling. One popular pastime at these parks is hunting for fossils: Calvert Cliffs contains over 600 varieties of fossils and visitors can find one-of-a-kind keepsakes if they look hard enough.
More traditional beaches, like Breezy Front Beach & Campground and North Beach Public Beach, offer a more traditional experience. Visitors can hang out on the North Beach boardwalk or lounge in the sand with a good book.
