Attending a carnival in the summertime is a beloved tradition for many Frederick County residents, and the 2022 carnival season in Frederick County is no exception.
Children come for various rides and games. (Don’t let them play the goldfish games unless you have a tank ready at home!) Many adults line up for the food, including carnival staples like funnel cake and homemade platters. Guests come for the live entertainment which features some favorite area performers. Most attend to gather with friends and neighbors in a fun venue.
These annual events are often the largest fundraisers of the year for the groups that host them, including volunteer fire companies and area civic groups. Several venues offer unforgettable fireworks shows that provide lasting memories. While the Ferris wheels have largely been absent from the county skies over the past two years due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many carnivals are back to their traditional large scale this year.
