5 Educational Summer Programs to Explore

Summertime is for fun, but it’s also a time when academic and social skills can stall out for kids if they aren’t careful. Continuing education over the summer months is especially important for children who rely on routine and structure.

Here are five educational summer programs in the Frederick area that will allow kids and teens to continue having fun while exploring topics and skills they might not have time for in a regular school day.

All Things Music and Dance Company

Kids can stay active and healthy by embracing their love of music with All Things Music and Dance’s programs this summer. With dance classes in ballet, jazz, tap, musical theatre and hip-hop, the studio offers an enriching experience for dancers of all skill levels, from novice to professional. Students ages 6-9, 10-13 and 14-18 can also participate in annual competitions. If regular classes don’t fit your busy summer schedule, All Things Music and Dance also offer workshops. Help your children get a leg up in the digital world by introducing them to a skill that will benefit them their whole lives. Code Ninjas helps children fall in love with coding by giving them a unique skillset they can show off with pride. Delaplaine Arts Center

Experience art education in a new way this summer with seasonal classes. Frederick’s local arts center works to include everyone and spark creativity in young minds. In 2023, Delaplaine has nine weeks of summer camp programs for ages 6-10 and 10-14 from mid-June through mid-August. Program dates to come. Kids on Campus at FCC

Help your child learn about science and technology or explore their artistic and culinary skills at Frederick Community College this summer. Children ages 6-16 have a variety of fun, educational program options, including “STOMP!…Your Way to Fun!” a non-conventional percussion class and video game design. Browse by topic or week and register online. Scholarships of up to $300 per child are available depending on income, age of children and family residency status. Kids Summer Education Programs at Carroll

Carroll Community College summer programs are not only educational but fun and engaging. The [email protected] program for ages 5-11 lets youngsters explore their interests while Teen College for ages 12-15 introduces higher education topics.
