The chimes of the carillon bells will soon accompany other music folks will hear coming from Baker Park. Beginning June 5, Celebrate Frederick will host its annual Summer Concert Series on Sundays at 7 p.m. at the park’s bandshell for 12 weeks.
This summer’s lineup includes a diverse group of local and regional performers. “Every year, we have a group of volunteers that pick the bands and they try to represent a variety of genres and styles so that there is something for everyone,” says Jennifer Martin, Celebrate Frederick’s executive director. “I think they did a good job this year of having a diverse lineup and a lot of fun genres. I think people have a lot to look forward to” this season.

Canned food items will be collected for the Frederick Food Bank. A 50/50 raffle, which has become an audience favorite, will also take place this season. “Every week, we have a group of volunteers that sell raffle tickets to the concertgoers,” Martin says. “At the end of the night, we draw a winner, and that individual gets 50% of the money raised that night and the other 50% goes back to support the concert series and other Celebrate Frederick events.”
