On Sunday, Oct. 26, a herd of people in cow onesies, costumes and more will be taking over the Great Frederick Fairgrounds in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as cows. Hosted by the Frederick Flying Cows basketball team, Cowfest promises to be an event to remember.

It’s far more than just an attempt to break a world record, though. Cowfest will be a fall festival with a bovine twist, starting with a “Running of the Cows” fun run hosted in collaboration with Charm City Run. Young festivalgoers will be able to enjoy a kids’ activity zone and get in some early trick-or-treating at “Moo or Treat” stations. Participants can purchase official Flying Cows onesies online to take part in the world record attempt or make or buy their own costumes.

The current record for the largest gathering of people dressed as cows has stood since 2014, when 1,352 people dressed up as cows for the Cow Muster event at the Deja Moo County Fair in Cowaramup, Australia. Participants must wear a white outfit with black spots, a hood and cow ears and black or white shoes to be officially counted for the record.
